PEACE WALK HELD IN SOLIDARITY WITH VICTIMS OF JAFFER EXPRESS INCIDENT

A peace walk was organized by the National Institute of Psychology, Centre of Excellence, Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, to show solidarity with the victims of Jaffer Express incident. The event aimed to promote peace, tolerance, and unity among the people of Pakistan.

The walk was attended by students, faculty members, and representatives from various organizations. Participants held banners and placards condemning terrorism and extremism and expressing support for the victims and their families.

Dr. Rubina Hanif, Director of the National Institute of Psychology, addressed the gathering, saying, “We stand with the victims of this sad incident. As psychologists, we understand the devastating effects of terrorism on individuals and communities. We must offer support and care to those affected.”

Hanzala, a student of the National Institute of Psychology, spoke about the need to address extreme tendencies and promote empathy. “We must recognize that there are humans on both sides of every incident of extremism. As psychologists, we can play a crucial role in promoting tolerance and understanding.”

Mr. Sohail bin Aziz, from the Rehmatulalamin Authority, emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals from extremist ideologies. “We must safeguard our ideologies and cognitions from negative elements that target our vulnerabilities.”

Another student from NIP, Ms. Qurat ul Ain who hails from Baluchistan whose family members were involved in the incident, shared her traumatic experience. However, she emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and unity. “We are Pakistanis first, and our ethnicities come second. We must promote peace and tolerance to build a stronger, more resilient Pakistan.” Another student Qamar Abbas from Parachinar also shared his views and said that terrorism is a National cause. 

The peace walk was a testament to the resilience and solidarity of the Pakistani people. It served as a reminder that collective efforts are necessary to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding in the face of adversity.
